# Social Links

Aura displays your social media links in the footer, giving readers an easy way to connect with you across different platforms.

There are two ways to add social links to your site: through Ghost's **Social Accounts** settings or by using the **Secondary Navigation** menu. The method you choose determines which social links appear in the footer.

### Social Accounts

Ghost allows you to add social media profiles directly through the publication settings in Ghost Admin. These links are displayed automatically in the Aura footer.

However, Ghost's Social Accounts settings support only a limited number of platforms. If you want to display links to additional social networks, you can use the Secondary Navigation menu instead.

### Secondary Navigation

Aura also supports social links through Ghost's Secondary Navigation, allowing you to include additional social networks that are not available in the default Social Accounts settings.

### Step-by-step:

Go to the "**Navigation**" settings in Ghost Admin and click "**Customize**".

In the Secondary section, add a new item.

Add Social Links to the Secondary Navigation

1. In the **Secondary** section, add a new item.
2. Set the **Label** to one of the supported names (see list below).
3. Set the **URL** to your profile link (`https://instagram.com/yourprofile`).

Click "**Save**" to apply your changes.

### Which Social Links Are Displayed?

If you configure social links in both Ghost's Social Accounts settings and Secondary Navigation, **Social Accounts take priority by default**. Aura displays the links configured in Social Accounts rather than combining both sets of links.

If you want to display social networks that are not available in Ghost's default settings, use [Secondary Navigation](/docs/aura/basic-settings/navigation.md#secondary-navigation) and make sure Social Accounts are not configured to take priority.

This gives you the flexibility to use Ghost's built-in settings for supported platforms or Secondary Navigation for a wider selection of social networks.

### Supported Labels

Use the exact names below in the **Label** field in the Secondary Navigation:
