# Navigation

The theme supports two types of navigation: **primary navigation** in the site header and **secondary navigation** in the footer, and for displaying social media buttons. Both can be managed from the Ghost Admin.

### Primary Navigation

The primary navigation appears in the header and supports a simple list of links plus one optional dropdown.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
**Access Ghost Admin**

* Log in to your Ghost Admin at `yoursite.com/ghost`
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Navigate to Navigation Settings**

* Go to **Settings** > **Site** > **Navigation** `yoursite.com/ghost/#/settings/navigation`
* Click the **"Customize"** button to open the editor.
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Add or Edit Menu Items**

* Add, reorder, or remove items as needed using a label and URL.
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Dropdown menu**

* Add an item with the URL set to `###`.
* In the label field, you can write something like ***"More"***.
* All items added after this one will appear inside the dropdown.
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Save Changes**

* Click **"Save"** to apply your updated primary navigation.
  {% endstep %}
  {% endstepper %}

### Secondary Navigation

Secondary navigation is displayed in the site footer and is also used to display social media icons in the hero and footer. Support for 30+ social media links.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
**Access Ghost Admin**

* Log in to your Ghost Admin at `yoursite.com/ghost`
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Navigate to Navigation Settings**

* Go to **Settings** > **Site** > **Navigation** `yoursite.com/ghost/#/settings/navigation`
* Click the **"Customize"** button to open the editor.
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Add or Edit Items**

* Edit the **Secondary** section by adding or adjusting items, add links using a label and URL and reorder or remove items as needed.
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Save Changes**

* Click **"Save"** to update the secondary navigation.
  {% endstep %}
  {% endstepper %}

For a full list of supported social links and setup instructions, see the [Social links](/docs/fancy/basic-settings/social-links.md) article.

### Sign in Link

Fancy does not include a dedicated sign in button by default. If needed, you can add a sign in link manually to the primary or secondary navigation using Ghost’s default sign in URL.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
**Access Ghost Admin**

* Log in to your Ghost Admin at `yoursite.com/ghost`
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Navigate to Settings**

* Go to **Settings** > **Membership**> **Signup portal** `yoursite.com/ghost/#/settings/portal`
* Click the "**Customize**" button to open the editor and click **links tab** and copy the sign in link.
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Add Link**

* Edit the primary or secondary navigation by adding a link with a label such as “Sign in” and the appropriate URL copied.
* You can also use just this URL: `#/portal/signin`.
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Save Changes**

* Click **"Save"** to update the primary or secondary navigation.
  {% endstep %}
  {% endstepper %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
When a member is logged in, the sign in link will automatically be hidden.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://pinathemes.gitbook.io/docs/fancy/basic-settings/navigation.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
