# Accent color

The **accent color** is a native Ghost feature used to highlight key elements across your site. It defines the color of components such as the portal, recommendations, comments, buttons, links, and certain editor cards.

**Default color:** `#ef4444`

Follow the steps below to access the accent color setting:

#### Access Ghost Admin

* Log in to your Ghost Admin at `yoursite.com/ghost`

#### Navigate to Design Settings

* Go to **Settings** > **Site** > **Design & branding** `yoursite.com/ghost/#/settings/design`
* Click the **"Customize"** button to open the editor.

#### Pick a Color

* Under **Accent color** option and click the color picker icon to choose a new color.

#### Save Changes

* Click **"Save"** to apply the new color to the site.

In this theme, the accent color is applied to buttons, links, and other visual elements throughout the site. This option is available when using the **Sand**, **Light** or **Dark** [color schemes](/docs/sand/customization/site-wide/color-scheme.md).
