# Metadata

The metadata settings control how post information is displayed, including the author name, publish date, and estimated reading time. This information appears at the top of each post and helps provide context for your readers.

Follow the steps below to access the Metadata setting:

### Access Ghost Admin

* Log in to your Ghost Admin at `yoursite.com/ghost`

### Navigate to Design Settings

* Go to **Settings** > **Site** > **Design & branding** `yoursite.com/ghost/#/settings/design`
* Click the **"Customize"** button to open the theme editor.

### Open Theme Settings

* Locate the **Metadata** option under the **Post** section.

### Available Options

* **Author** - Displays only the author's name.
* **Author / Date** - Displays the author's name and the publish date only.
* **Author / Date / Min read** *(default)* - Displays the author's name, the publish date, and the estimated reading time.
* **Author  / Min read -** Displays the author's name and the estimated reading time.
* **Date** - Displays only the publish date.
* **Date / Min read** - Displays the publish date and the estimated reading time, without the author.
* **Hide** - Hides all metadata elements from the post header.

The **Sand** theme also supports displaying multiple authors on a post, with a maximum of **(two authors)** shown. This is enough to cover most common use cases.
